2002 | Boston TV Discussion on Sex-Abuse Lawsuits and Confidentiality Agreements

In TV News by PhilSaviano

Chet Curtis and Margie Reedy of New England Cable News host a panel discussion on the pros and cons of sex abuse lawsuits confidentiality agreements. Phil Saviano, the SNAP victims’ advocate, discusses the settlement of his own lawsuit, and why he refused to sign the confidentiality agreement, despite pressure to do so by his attorney. Saviano’s refusal to sign, left him able to use his knowledge and reach out to other victims of clergy abuse throughout New England. He settled his lawsuit in April 1996. One year later, he established in Boston the first N.E. chapter of SNAP.

Joining Phil in the discussion are Attorney Paul Kelly, former federal prosecutor, and Robert Bloom of Boston College Law School.
